Rupert
Its handy if your coach lives miles away, thats what drop box is for, its only part of the process as Ed and others say, Sometimes its nice to see the clay break in super slow mo

EdSolomons
The proof will be in the eating of the pudding of course - I shall await judgement until I have used it enough to make that call. I guess unless tried, we will all have speculative views on it's effectiveness as a training aid - have you had the chance to try one yet? Surely if you know where and by how far you are missing, you are half way towards knowing where you need to be to be hitting? I would never advocate that the shotkam should replace proper coaching but as a coaching aid I'm hoping it will be valuable. But you know, at the end of the day - it's horses for courses and if it's fun and I enjoy using it - that's good enough for me! Cheers, John. I have indeed used one, we did some filming in Germany with Krieghoff and had one with us for three days. Good to watch clays break but in reality it doesn't really teach you much, even showing someone the lead in slow mo is near useless as the lead shown on the cam is not a lot like what you see in real life due to gun speed issues. I was offered one for free and chose not to take them up on it, so I suppose that shows how much I think of th as a training aid. Not totally useless as there is the odd application but still much easier to explain and or show what's happening. They are well made bits of kit and I'm sure you will have fun with it either way. Okrang
What good is seeing where you are shooting if you don't know where to place the shot pattern in the first place, no good giving something two foot of lead and six inches under and seeing your giving two foot of lead and six inches under if it needs six foot and a couple of feet under. It is only any good for coaching to explain and show what a student didn't do right or when they hit it what they did do right. I take your point Figgy. Where I'm hoping it will help me is that I am at that stage where I have been shooting for 40 years plus but I mainly rifle shoot these days and don't get out with my shotgun as often as I'd like to. Certainly not frequently enough to stay sharp! So, I do generally know where my shot pattern should be but my gun mounting and timing often let me down and sometimes I think I was certain to hit a bird but miss! I'm hoping this will show me where I am missing compared to where I thought I was placing my pattern. I know it will never replace proper coaching and regular practice but I just haven't got the time these days for both! I guess I'm looking for a compromise solution. If it doesn't work out - nothing ventured, nothing gained! Cheers, John.
figgy
Post some video of what you shoot at. I tried a Go Pro over my right eye so it looked down the barrel, no good other than to watch the clays break. I do think there good for game or pigeon shooting to get the same perspective as the shooter.
subsonicnat
Should have ZOOMED It in Figgy,That shows where the shot has gone in relation to the target,, Which is what the Shotkam does,,if you take your lap top with you with the shotKam you can view it and alter your shooting while you are at the club house.. I cannot afford to throw that sort of money at a camera.. Unless someone on here is Benevolent. LMAO.. Could that be classed as begging.??..lol. motty
It will only show you where you miss, not why. Good fun for novelty factor on game shooting but use as a learning aid minimal I'd say... I have to agree.
Blundy
I disagree ed, you can see if your applying to much or not enough lead etc so it can only but help you improve your shooting but just too pricey for me 😩
EdSolomons
Where you miss is a tiny part of the equation. What it can't show is WHY...
