Take it from me, forget increasing power of a 12ft'lb rifle.

Most of the time it won't actually work out anything like the saving you think it will.

people on websites like this won't often give advice to new people on the suitability or methods for converting a legal weapon to FAC.

Find one you like the sound of, buy it and use it. When you have the land and the reason then apply for your FAC and buy the right gun then

You "can" uprate pretty much any PCP, esp daystates and theobens. You will find though, that FAC air rifles are cheaper 2nd hand as they have limited resale value. So you would be better off, buying a nice 12ftlb pcp and THEN should you decide to go FAC, chop it in and get a FAC one second hand and pocket the difference/get more gun for your money. Plus, its always better to by something for the purpose its designed for instead of trying to uprate something to make it something its not! Look at chav's who spend £10k on "modding" citreon saxo's for example!

if you want a gun NOW that you can convert to fac when you have a ticket, then get a rapid, if you want a gun with all the whistles and bling and you just want to punch paper?then get something else, but if you want a gun to hunt with and going fac would suggest this, then for shot count durability and fit for purpose ie hunting? the rapid is king, oh and if you already have the land/ reason to need, go for fac straight off, fac air rifles are by nature harder to sell second hand so bargains can be had, I have two modded fac rapids and by modded I mean WELL modded, neither set me back more than £500! in fact one was considerably less.

cheers KW

I have a daystate x2 sporter at sub 12 ft, which when my fac arrives can be converted to 30ft for £80 by daystate. Superb gun, very accurate very light

I had one! mine was heavy and long? accurate enough mind, but for fac? what shot count? cant imagine it would be much, hence one of the reasons I sold my gun and went for rapids that and the fact the first time I used a rapid I was well hooked? my guns do 72 shots @30ftlbs and 60@ 40ftlbs respective

cheers KW

Would it not be easier just to get a rifle? If you have a reason to use it that is :stupid:

Whatever you have on your ticket it is always a good idea to have a 12lb'er in the cabinet. Noting else can be used in barns to clear out ferals safely or for close range rabbit work.

It might mean having a few guns but no one rifle will do it all so sometimes this is the only way.

Except the BTAS FX Cyclone. In FAC it has selectable 12, 18 and 26 ftlbs power levels, is regulated and light as you like. Damn good looking too :stupid:

I would disagree though Dave, with those variable rifles the POI goes all over the place and you have to get the hang of 3 sets of hold over/under points. It can all get a bit unnecesary and complicated, it tries to do too much. However keep it on one of the settings all the time and it is going to be a corker!
