figgy
Gunmark Sabel, I wanted to have a go at refinishing a stock on a cheaper gun before I do my Wembley 700 Is that the stadium gun ? Don't worry about having a go on your Webley 700 if it goes wrong restrip and start again.

Wingman
I used the green Nitromors and it worked a treat Was it the new pansy version or the old "proper" stuff? I tried the new stuff and it was useless!
triumphant59
Couple of tips, mask off the chequering with masking tape before sanding and be very careful when sanding adjacent to action, you can very easily remove too much wood. Start with 800 grade wet and dry, wet stock to raise grain then repeat process gradually using finer grade wet and dry until you get to 1500 then apply oil finish

I don't think the old finish was very thick though Couple of tips, mask off the chequering with masking tape before sanding and be very careful when sanding adjacent to action, you can very easily remove too much wood. Start with 800 grade wet and dry, wet stock to raise grain then repeat process gradually using finer grade wet and dry until you get to 1500 then apply oil finish Yes that's exactly what I did apart from masking chequering, would of been easier if I did !
