Deako
Just a quick one guys, and posted on other forums as well: How many of you use the Guntrader site when looking to buy a new rifle/shotgun? Just need to know before I waste a pile of money! Thanks in advance...
Oly
Definately worth a look, not had problems previously.
Cranfield
Always, if only for a guide on prices and availability. Most of my friends do to.
Poacher
Always use it to keep a watch on the going prices, never bought off their though.

dunganick
its the autotrader of the gun trade if your thinking of advertising, then got to be the best way, also consider advertising in some of the shooting comics, not alot of adverts in there, and when ever ive enquired about a gun (only 2 or 3 days after printing) the guns have always been sold. Deako
Thanks for the replies fella's I'm just thinking of using it for unusual/top end guns that are a bit difficult to sell from the shop over the counter. I'll give it a go with a couple of bits and see how we get on
pin
My view is like Duganic's - its the autotrader of the gun world. I.E I never buy off anyone off there, I just use it to find out how much something I am selling is worth, or the guide price for a bid somewhere else. Mungler
I use it for referencing what current prices are. The core problem with the site is its navigation and functionality (although this has had a revamp recently). It also misses a trick by not taking wider shooting related adverts (autotrader doesn't just sell cars). If I realistically want to look for a gun I will travel to Kent, London, Essex and Suffolk at a stretch. I wouldn't buy one unseen (unless it was from a bloke called StuartP) and I wouldn't get one posted to my RFD who understandably gets the right **** about such things. Ploughing through a gazillion adverts for guns for sale in Scotland is hard work. By talking a pile of money I assume that you are buying it or buying into it or going to advertise on it. Guntrader does have lots of people looking at it but who knows about spending money on it? What I don't get is that the simplest thing would have been to just copy Autotrader (from start to finish) and make it for guns. You will get to see the revenue streams and stats but I reckon for not much money someone could set up something much better and more functional which would over take Guntrader as being the No. 1 horse in a 1 horse town. Just how much does it cost to advertise in the top 5 gun mags for 12 months, tap up a sponsor perhaps to offset, tie down 5 of the biggest shops and dealers on a special starter rate and do it from scratch but properly. EDIT: What about a proper real time auction section - eBay for guns and other shooting bits and bobs EDIT: Just seen Deako's post. Makes me think that there's something in a Mk 2 version of Guntrader eh PIN?
pin
There is, I think they missed a trick, or
Dunkield
Even though I use it to price up guns, I have also bought both my centrefires off it - so it does work. One was from Minsterly and the other from a shop I can't remeber the name of in Cheltenham. Neither exactly on my doorstep and I wouldn't of heard of either of the guns if it wasn't for GT. Deako
I suppose the nearest thing to a gun version of autotrader would probably be Gunmart at the moment. Trouble is, there are thousands of adverts in that and we really only need to advertise the unusual/expensive stuff as sales of low/mid level priced guns tick along steadily. I've put a couple on for a month and we'll see what happens, but with 8,200 guns on there at the moment, I won't hold my breath!!
ciltalgarth
www.ukgunroom.com is a good site too.
