johnnytheboy
Well folks I for one like the old Scottish fundays and would like to try and kick this off again now that game season has finished. Anyone fancy a trip to bisley in March? Just keep it easy going like we did last time 50-100 birds and a coffee in the club house?
Tam
Sounds good depending on the mad Cow's shifts :ninja: :ninja:
McSpredder
"Bisley at Braidwood" is my usual haunt. Bisley in Surrey would be a bit too far for me to travel.
johnnytheboy
McSpredder you could keep us right on what stands to shoot! We had shot 5 pairs at each stand, do you think 50, 60 or 100 birds? It's a fair old place bisley!
McSpredder
Plenty of choice of targets to suit all abilities at Braidwood. There are more than 20 sporting stands, several with up to six traps, the others the usual two traps per stand, and also a skeet range. You will need a large cartridge bag if you plan to shoot five pairs at each stand. There are some going-away targets, but not a true DTL layout. On non-competition days, regulars tend to collect one counter for the group, and wander round shooting two or three pairs per stand. Among our usual group, most of us shoot (sorry, I mean fire at) 100 clays and then return to the clubhouse for refreshment. If there happen to be one or two with dodgy knees, etc, they take a separate counter, and stop whenever they feel like it. When they a running a club competition, you can still go round and practice, but are asked to give way to the competition shooters.
Fifegun
I'm a member at Braidwood so usually there twice a month, would be up for joining yous. Cheers Alec

johnnytheboy
McSpreader this is similar to what we have done in the past but we had to split into two groups once as there was to many folk there. Anyone's thoughts on the 25th March?
McSpredder
Not fussy about the date, 25th March would suit me fine. No idea how many you expect, but presumably it would be best to split into two groups if more than about eight folk turn up. You can expect to find some interesting (= tricky) targets at Braidwood, but no need to bring a fancy trap gun -- generally nothing that cannot be broken with ½ choke. Some of the driven birds are thrown from the south or south-east, so take dark glasses if it is a sunny day.

Fifegun
18th would be better for me as I could definitely make that one, wouldn't make the 25th it's my sisters wedding day
grrclark
25th is very unlikely for me I'm afraid, it is the 1st registered sporting shoot of the year at Hopetoun on the 26th and I will likely be finalising the course for that shoot. Ronnie B
Sorry I can't make it. Please keep me posted on future dates
McSpredder
Sounds as though at least three people (Fifegun, grrclark & Ronnie B) cannot make it on 25th March. Should we go ahead with that date, or try to find an alternative?
johnnytheboy
Sorry been busy with work, we have a tentative 5 for 25th I've also spoken to derrickr and Gregg who attended previously they maybe on for the 25th just awaiting confirmation If we can arrange a more suitable date then let's go for it, date suggestions? johnnytheboy
I'm working the 18th and at kelbrock shooting on the 1st unfortunately, could push the date into April?
grrclark
Given the difficulties last time in finding a date to be agreed I would push on with the 5, maybe 7, of you who can make it. Will be a nice sized group to walk around and have a blether. Don't let the minority of us who cannot go on the 25th dictate things 😊
johnnytheboy
Graham, how far in advance do you know your clay dates etc, as we could have a few of these this year as we did last year we could plan around your dates so you can join in! grrclark
Graham, how far in advance do you know your clay dates etc, as we could have a few of these this year as we did last year we could plan around your dates so you can join in! Pretty much every Sunday has a registered competition of some description so largely rules Sunday's out for me. In terms of Saturdays I am much more flexible with only a few that are restricted due to setting up a shoot or another comp' that I will likely attend. The Saturdays that I definitely cannot do are: 25/3, 1/4, 29/4, 27/5, 3/6, 29/7, 12/8 & 19/
johnnytheboy
Ok perfect Graham let's plan in the next one around these dates! Possibly auchterhouse as that's handy for you! Just to counts who's in for the 25th Johnnytheboy + Lee & Gregg (both attended before) Tam + Lynelle McSpredder NoviceCushieShooter Derickr
