ferguson_tom
I've looked and it's £600 So considerably cheaper than even one years tax, insurance and MOT on a second van then, not to mention the purchase cost. Thats about what i paid for mine and that included the test. I did a mornings training followed by the test in the afternoon, i had been towing trailers for a long time before that though so sort of knew what i was doing. Vince Green
If the motorhome is big enough to tug a small car behind then the game changes, The legality of towing a car behind a motorhome is a grey area. It depends how it is towed, people have been nicked for using A frames.
hodge911
having had both I would deffo go motorhome . I,ve had 3 tourers various sizes and a four birth motorhome that I made from a merc midi coach using the inside of a 3 year old caravan with all the toys [ damaged on the outside so write off ] the only downside for me was I dint have a tow along car but the fact that all I had to do was drive up and connect the power lead out wayed that along with having a fixed bed bedroom at the rear
Lord Geordie
I've just ordered a new T6 and want to pull a caravan but can't :( I need to pass my test so I'm thinking of converting another van as I need mine as a work horse . I passed my test in 99 so missed the cut of and I'm limited to 3.5t gutted as my van is mam 3.2 That still allows 800kg for a caravan. There are plenty light weight ones about! It all depends on what you need. My combined weight is 1800kg. But then my licence is nearly 30 year old now, so luckily mine covers me to over 8t combined. Saying that our caravan doesnt take long to set up as i have it pretty well sorted now and dont store anything on the floor in the van, within about 10-15 mins i can be set up and all connected. Just be aware if you are planning on going a bit of grid with a motorhome levelling one on uneven ground is a pig of a job! My vans mam is 3.2 so I'm only covered for 300 but I can tow a trailer that's no more than 750 crazy isn't it Crazy thing is with a standard license you can tow around 1500kg caravan with something like a mondeo but only 750kg with your van or a landrover discovery!
