Cranfield
I always smile when I see "Defender" and "speed" in the same sentence.
flash
there is no need to laugh cant be slower then my suzuki jimny. its more power that im looking for, not speed. what would u recomend for a 4x4 then? cheers flash
al4x
I'd guess it probably is slower than your Jimney, But your question is going to get a mix of replies. If your handy with a spanner and enjoy mending it get a Landrover if not buy another jap 4x4
Hodmedod.one
just wandering what the average speed difference between a normally aspirated defender engine, and a 200 tdi engine. cheers flash Having owned one, I can tell you that 200tdi and speed do not belong in the same sentence. They may belong on the same page, but only if you are a very slow reader It will still get you where you want to go, that's the main thing. lurcherboy
Flash non turbo and you will be lucky to get 60-65, the tdi will give you 85 and has considerably more acceleration than the non turbo. LB
dusk2dawn
I always smile when I see "Defender" and "speed" in the same sentence. Hah, my 300tdi goes like poo off a shovel for the first 100yds D2D
EvoCars
stick a disco transfer box in with higher ratio and ul have a much better gearing for on road driving, and the low range rations are unaffected, fair enought about landys being a pain, but parts are silly cheap, easy to work on and a clean landy will always hold its money better than the jap stuff, ive got an isuzu and a defender, isuzus more modern/pratical ect but the landys just got something about it I like
steve b
The 2.5 NA diesel is slow but isnt horrendous about town, its motorways and accelerating up hills or slopes where it suffers. I get about 62 max from mine and it takes time measured with a calender to get there. go with tdi for better road manners
DaveK
I cruise along at 70 on the motorway in my 110 300tdi with plenty of (very responsive) poke left for overtaking.
fusion
Just think yourself lucky you have a Landy that is running, and not broken down like most of them seem to be!!!!!!!
BSA Shaun
My disco 200 tdi takes roughly a year and a half to get to 70. Not built for speed tho was it
