Tarka
Last week i got my SGC throuhg after 4 months of waiting! Today, i picked up my gun! Secong hand sbs (spanish make, i forgot the make!) Also, today my borther left to start a keepering job in Belgium so i took over the pigeon shooting he had on a local far which is about 30 second walk from my house. Took me a while to get my eye in with the new gun, and i havent really shot 12g before, only hada few shots here and there with my brother. However, aftr a few missed shots i was dropping pigeons easliy after finding the flight lines. One was around the 50yard mark aswell. Final result was 6 pigeon, 4 crows and 1 squirrel ( 2 crows i lost in nettles)......on an embarresing note though i usied 34 cartridges , but in my defence, this was my first time out on my own with my own gun and im very pleased with myself. Might take it to work some time soon and do a bit of roost shooting (im an underkeeper on the Honeycombe shoot in dorset) Anywhos, thanks for reading and here is a photo! Cranfield
30% return on kills against cartridges used, is better than some clay shooters I know. Keep practising and those numbers will improve.

beatingisbest
well done, and another well done for getting a s/s, not many s/s shooters around these days. Dont worry about cartridge to hit ratio, it will improve, we have all been there, the main thing is practice and fun

pin
As cranners said, forget cart / kill ratio, take it from me that's a lot better than some pigeon shooters I know Enjoy it, nothing quite like the day it all comes together and you stand there in the field knowing you are perfectly legally standing there with your own gun

Tarka
cheers guys for the comments and support. went out again tonight for an hour but nothing seemed to be around like last night. Loads landing in a clover feild just out of range. I did however bring down 2 pigeon, one spun straight ouyt of the sky. Nine shots in total and some were a bit unrealstic for me The gun cost me £195 and has a few knocks and marks on the stock but it shoots lovely. very pleased with it
