Dunkield
Haven't watched F1 for years as it got a bit stale to say the least. 'We' now have a real hope with this guy racing, podium finish in every race and this weekend he is on pole, can he do it?
Markio
Looking at the season so far he seems to have quite a mature head considering it's his first F1 season. That being said i understand that he's been groomed by Maclaren for years for this very moment. We'll see in a few hours. He certainly has the ability to take the car round that track at winning speeds and is also sat in a front running car.
Oly
I know what you mean Stuart, even though I was in awe of Schumacher...it ws getting boring. Lewis is definately amazing and a breath of fresh air...just wish Schmacher was still around to see how the two compare...maybe he'll see it as a challenge and come back next season! Good to see GB on top of the world again
Dunkield
Well he did, a VERY cool performance under pressure, I think we have the making of a World Champion. Comparisons already being made to Senna - I hope the British press don't build him up and then knock him down in their usual style I bet they are going through his bins as we speak . . . Mungler
Not been all that much into F1 of recent years - all the post Senna safety stuff and rules on no overtaking... races now having to be won on a carefully planned and thoroughly exciting pit stop strategy devised by exciting people with lap tops had taken their toll on my interest. However, Hamilton, what a driver he is and is going to be for years to come. He won a very difficult race four times over - that's how many times the safety car came up and he lost his lead and had start again. A World Champion in the making without a doubt. Next year if not this year eh Alonso.
Markio
Comparisons already being made to Senna... Yeah that really winds me up. He's won his first GP. He's good no denying that but he's also in a good car. I think it's a bit early for that ****** James Allen to gob off about Senna comparisons. Which reminds me, for car fans check out www.sniffpetrol.com. The format has changed this month but look through the archives.
fusion
So the British can still win something. Was a great race to watch for a change
Oly
To be breaking records already at this stage in this career...compared to Senna...fair enough in my view - who else could he prove it?!? By winning all of his first six races!!! Besides Senna seems to continually get better through the years after his death too! My money's on him for this world champ. Don't care what the press dig up on him, both him and his dad seem to have their heads screwed on and feet on the ground.
pin
Fantastic performance from the young lad, hat off to him. Looks like he's got the stones to go all the way. However, lets leave the Senna comparisons out of it for gods sake, the lads 22 and done well in 6 races, he's got a long long way to go before he's earned the right to be considered in the same vein. Oly
Senna was outshone years ago by Schumacher years ago anyway IMO. Don't think Senna podum'd his first 6 races. As ever though, it is always difficult to compare sportsmen of different generations...all we can go off is their records.
Tony9r
Great race... go, go Hamilton!
Dunkield
Senna was still winning when he died, we will never know what more was to come . .
digger
So the consensus of opinion is it was boring to watch until an englishman started to win then its great viewing ? Nope, its still the same **** with no overtaking, teams picking who will win ( Monaco ) and about as exciting as big brother. Moto GP is racing, a sport for men not walking advertising hoardings. And no I wont raise a glass should he win whatever trophy he gets, it wont be him winning it just his management deciding he is due for it

Markio
Sorry but to compare anyone to Senna/Schumacher in their first 6 races is utter **** and if you do so you deserve a seat next to James ******* Allen. Schumacher is without doubt a superb F1 driver, one of the best, i believe he started his F1 career with Jordan, hardly a winning team. Hamilton started with what is an excellent team this year, and while he obviously has an amazing amount of talent the car and team are so much of deciding factor. When the likes of Damon Hill, Jacques Villeneuve etc won their single F1 championship was it because they were in a middle ranking team? Of course not. Axe
I caught the last half of therace this weekend. Lewis is driving superb and deserves his gains iindeed. I've followed him for several years now and he has stormed to the front in all of the formulas he's raced in. He is with out doubt one of the finest drivers t grace the F1 scene. This will have a fantastic knock on effect for F1 and indeed F1 in this country (bring back Brands Hatch). No matter what I think about his efforts so far though, I do wonder how he will perform when he is knocked backed a little. He has had an inpecable start to his F1 career but how is he gong to perform when things arent going his way. We shall see in due course , I guess. You make some good points markio, but his team mate had the same equiment (if the truth was known possibly better) and he didn't fare too well did he? Anyway, lets see how he gets on, he has had a dream start, unfortunately there is only one way to go from there . . As an aside here are some amazing pictures of Kubica's high speed stack The strength of those tubs is simply amazing. http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/gallery...4-17382,00.html
pin
To be fair he's had tests in his career to date. Lets not forget this isn't a fresh faced kid driving a fast car for the first time, this lads been racing since he could walk (ish). The visit to Monaco last month, that would be his 4th race there, ok first in F1, but up until then he'd never lost there. He's putting moves on people at the start, see Monaco, as well as clearly winding Alonso up to the point where he's nearly taken them both out - not the actions of a normally steely calm Spaniard F1 is as much about mental strength as it is about ability and bravery and it will be interesting to see what happens when things go wrong. roadkill
hes great and its not all about the car , plus hes a nice honest bloke when it comes to the press interviews , im sure he will handle the bad days great

You're dead right, he deserved his win and he's deserved all of the points he's gained so far but he doesn't deserve to be compared to the likes of Senna and Schumacher (yet!). To revive Diggers comments concerning F1 being boring, i have to agree, I got bored and stopped watching but i think last year with some of the rule changes it seems to have picked up a bit. Ceratainly yesterdays race had some nice moents in it. And yes, motoGP is far more entertaining to watch.
Mungler
I went over to touring car - much more interesting because there is actual "over-taking". I also like the dodgem aspect of bumping into cars that are in your way.
