sandspider
Hi all Bit of an odd question, but is there some sort of diy stuff to fill gaps under (poorly fitted and out of warranty) double glazed panels? They're on our kitchen, and there are some big gaps between the panels and the wood they're supposed to rest on. A few have smaller gaps, which I reckon I can fill with silicone. But not sure about the bigger ones - expanding foam?! (Messy and may get into gutters...) Too big for silicone, and don't think I can get draught excluded type strips into the gaps without lifting the panels, which would be a pain. Any thoughts? Trying not to have to get a professional to do it, considering the poor job they did in the first place. Couple of pics of the bigger gaps hopefully attached... Cheers. sandspider
Thanks. Pics too big, I'll have to get to a PC at some point. I'm guessing spacers are the padded strips the panels are supposed to rest on? There are some there, but they're too.small (one with a big gouge cut out of it) and I don't think I can get bigger ones in without lifting the panels. Gaps are at the bottom (gutter end) of the panels... Will look into PVC quadrant and trims. Bigger gaps are probably a cm or so, pretty draughty. panoma1
Do not the glass units fit into the recess in the frame against a rubber exterior seal, internally held in place with interior beading again with a rubber seal? The internal and external rubber seal arrangement should eliminate all water and drafts.....the actual glass units are held up and in a central position by packers! Or folded DPC.......where are the gaps? Pictures would possibly explain the problem better?
rimfire4969
Are the gaps are under the window frame? If the biggest is 1 cm a big bead of exterior silicon followed by some trim.
sandspider
Hi al Thanks for continued suggestions. I see I wasn't clear enough - it's not double glazed windows, it's roof panels - like a conservatory roof. Pictures below (inside, looking down the slope of the panel towards the gutter), which might help!
