Lloyd90
If sending a gun off to a gunsmith for work how does it work with posting it out? Imagine the local RFD will want to charge £25 to send it? How does it work posting it back etc? They won't have to sign it onto their books but I imagine they may still want a fee to receive it? walshie
They will have to sign it onto their books as soon as they take possession of it and then sign it off their books when they hand it over to you. Unfortunately you will have to pay a fee in both directions.

Unfortunately you will have to pay a fee in both directions. Dont quite see this . There is no notifications involved The gun needs to be registered then booked out to the gunsmith in question and on return booked back in then out to you . Most RFD's will have a mechanism for dealing with guns booked out to other RFD's and returns . He may want to charge for his time and charges if he is actually sending on his carriers account . Unless things have changed in the last 18 months the Gunsmith in question should be able to sent the gun back to you at the address on the certificate of the owner .Biggest problem is finding a carrier . That's what I meant. He would have to do a bit of paperwork sending and receiving the gun. Why wouldn't he charge for it? It's his business. I didn't know a gunsmith can send a gun direct to the owner
