Old Boggy
I`ve just been informed by HMRC by email that I`m due a fantastic tax rebate of in excess of £1000. All I need do is give them my bank details and the money will be transferred immediately. This has been received now several times in the last couple of weeks for differing amounts so I`m in the money. Of course it`s a scam and has been deleted, but some poor soul will be taken in by it and will have their bank account duly emptied. I sincerely hope that people will delete such junk. HMRC are aware of this scam. OB

tetlee
Although scams are Perennial and bloom all year, I get the impression that as Yule approaches they increase. Apart from this forum and one other, I have little to do with the Internet or any social media and yet a letter promising cheap shares in a profitable business based in Ghana found it's way into my email account the other day....Damn! I missed a golden opportunity by not replying I suppose..
Hamster
My wife got one saying she was owed £30 which I told her to bin but kept the letter to have a good look at laters, the scammers only went and sent us a cheque a couple of weeks later which I banked. They address me by name and inform me to log into my account, which I regard as indirect.
