matone
Can`t get a good pic in focus but it`s BSA in a large italic font and `12` below. 6 star crimp and looks like a cork over shot card. TIGHTCHOKE
I reckon they are Records made by Baikal in Russia.
matone
Look very similar to some foreign loaded one`s that Frank Dyke used to sell if I remember correctly !! ( different headstamp of course ). 1 minute ago, TIGHTCHOKE said: I reckon they are Records made by Baikal in Russia. Did BSA have a tie up with Baikal ? The gun profile on the box looks like a BSA Snipe single barrel perhaps?
aga man
Look very much like old Eley's to me. Surprised the brass isn't headstamped with Kynoch.
matone
Best I can get of the headstamp !
AYA117
Didn't the Eastern block cartridges have a one piece primer back then ?
matone
Certainly the Records and Sellier & Bellots that I used did but you never know ....... They were all paper cases too in the 70`s ,I seem to recall..... Edited December 29, 2017 by matone
aga man
These are the Eley's I was referring to. Sadly the print has worn off but these are described as waterproof/ high velocity etc. Eley hymax here in no1 shot later 70's vintage. AYA117
They must have been readily available,as the BSA was on the brass. 53 minutes ago, matone said: Certainly the Records and Sellier & Bellots that I used did but you never know ....... Sellier & Bellot Oh! now there is a good name from the past.I shot o lot of game with the MK11 paper case 1 1/8 oz 5,and almost shot a left and right at woodcock with the 7/8 oz 6 1/2 shot.I say nearly as! shot one woodcock with the right barrel, opened the gun, cartridge ejected, did not have time to reload, closed the gun and shot a woodcock with the left barrel.Only chance I ever had,can remember it like it happened today. matone
That`s all I ever saw !!! They were fairly thumpy too ! Worked well tho`.
AYA117
Would be interesting to see how the MK11 compared to modern cartridges. I the think the 7/8 oz load was called 'Practice' they were in a very dark Burgundy paper case.
