Hello All

I saw how many people from "over the pond" were joining up here so I thought I'd better get involved before we are over run!:good:

My name is Ken I live in Leeds and as a result of being given permission to shoot over 500 acres I am applying for my FAC. I have been using air rifles (Webley Eclipse, Webley FX2000 and a Theoben Rapid MFR) for rabbiting and woodies but think that a rimfire is the way to go now.

I think that when I apply for my FAC I will ask for two rifles. A .22 for quieter, closer work and a .17 for longer shots where the noise factor isn't as important. In your experience am I asking for too much? How will the police view me wanting two rifles?

Regards, Ken

Hello, and :good: aboard Ken.

I think you have just provided 'good reason' to own both calibres, which is all you should need, go for it.

When you get a moment, click on 'my controls' and fill in the rest of your profile - just the basics, you tend to get a few more responses once you have done that

Hello and :good: Ken.

I've not got a FAC so can't offer an informed comment on your application, but I'm sure there will be a helpful post a long soon. There are certainly plenty of lads on here with both and also some with two of the same calibre, so they can have a day-scoped and a night-scoped rifle and not have to mess with re-zeroing the site when they swap etc.

Hi Ken! A familiar name from more than one forum I'm a member of!

I can confirm Ken is a genuine bloke, so no worries about him being undercover or whatever.

Yes, you are doing the right thing asking for .22lr and 17hmr. A great combo and one that lots of people use.

Good to see a familiar face  .....Run!

I am excited at the prospect of taking my shooting to the next level. It was only by overhearing a conversation between a mother and a little girl in my lads class that I got the new permission.

Little Girl: Grandad says he will give me a pound for every rabbit I bring him because they are causing so much damage.

Mother: He is sick of them isn't he.

Me: Excuse me.......I couldn't help but hear that you have a rabbit problem.

The rest, as they say is history. :good:

Cheers, Ken

hi Ken, Welcome to the forum.

we also have a knife thrower on here, do you know him.

good luck with the fac.

If that is my mate Little John I do know him. I was over at his place a few days ago and he reminded me about this site which I had visited a time or two myself. :good: He has also given me some good advice where shooting is concerned. I have been unable to throw for some time following an injury.

I can't wait to get fit again.

Cheers, Ken
