Gun Choice

I’ve had a cheap o/u thats served me well for over 4 years, paid £100 for it so it owes me nothing. Shot fairly well with it & in that time a mate has repaired a crack in the wood & tightened it up when it became loose. He reckons I should scrap it & buy a new gun. I’m looking at spending no more than £1000 on a 2nd hand gun. Browning or Beretta yes but theres so many models I’m stumped. I will go to a shop to see what size fits me but need advice on best models to look for. Thanks

Keep the old gun, most people regret getting rid of them, always handy to have a spare too.

As for which model to look for it is far more important to get one that fits you.

For your budget a Beretta 686 should not break the bank. What do you intend to use it for, Clays or Pigeons?

There are literally thousands of good used Brownings and Berettas out there within your budget, so I wouldn’t be looking for any particular model. Choose one you really really like the look of and then learn to shoot with it.

If your mount is consistent enough then whichever gun you pick up, mount it with your eyes closed, and if after opening them you see the sight picture you see with your current gun then that may be the one for you. Have fun.
