DUNKS
Rescued a Belgian 16 "by buying it" Very cheap though. Bit of a rough gun. "my mate says it was made by a blacksmith." It probably was! Action is very crude and simple but locks seem to be much better quality. All polished. Stock looked as if used to hammer fence posts in but recovered a lot after a good ironing. Barrels are very good, bores are excellent and bluing is nice. Proofed for nitro and tight on the face. Shoots well. Top lever is cranked over at a strange angle. (Any suggestions why this is so?) I am sure I know. Any guesses. AND THE BARRELS ARE THE CORRECT WAY ROUND.😁
Dave at kelton
Might it be so the gun can be opened with the hammers cocked? Just a thought as I can think of no other reason and never seen that.

clumber
Has the stock got any cast in it or is it straight? Thinking the lever may have been cast over for a left hander?? gotgcoalman
wood swelling/slightly gummed up inside or the previous owner always opened it to the left and it has wear on the mechanism? Lovely gun regardless 😎
Old Boggy
I think that you've done the gun an injustice by the title 'Not so sweet Sixteen'. It looks a good honest gun and as you say it 'Shoots well'. It doesn't have to be a Purdey to shoot well, just a safe gun and a good fit. Enjoy it for what it is.
