Browning
I'm going through the same process with my new Remmy Conor. I've kind of narrowed it down to the PES or A-Tec which were both recommended by the lads that are building the rifle. I need to decide by tomorrow so it can be completed...... I currently have T8s on both my rifles, and they have performed faultlessly for years, but wanted something strippable on my new one. dunganick
dm80 long waiting time i believe, but they are cheapish and good. there is a fella on BBS who makes them i think.
grasshopper
Got a PES on my .22 250,stainless steel, works great..very quiet, good groupings..BUT.... Very heavy,i had to get the stock cleaned up a bit as the mod made the barrel touch the stock.Once it was floating again no more inconsistant groups. In your case Connor, you do a lot of walking when your out lamping so weight wud maybe come into it?? GH
JRDS
I use a T4AR on my Hornet and that is rated to 223. Alot lighter than PES etc which is a big consideration and just needs a squirt of WD40 after use to make it last, it works fine.
tikkamark
hello all, im getting my remmy threaded and am wondering what moderator to go for? im stuck between a t8, atec and ase s5, or maybe a t4! what do ye recon lads? how do the t8 and t4 compare on a 223? cheers Just go for the t8 conor you will get used to the weight Only downside to them is you need to look after it fairly well ie every time it gets wet give it a squirt or two or oil because they rust very easily but they work wonders on a .223 Are you gettin her threaded the week your away? conor
thanks for the replies lads, grasshopper weight not really a problem its the extra lenght i dont like, was looking at a t8, ase utra jet z and ase utra a5 last nite and still am un decided! over all lenght is won by the t8 i think, jet z nice and light but long, a5 short enough but heaviest. he didnt have any a tec or pes, im leaning towards the t8 now as its shortest but i hate the finish and the god dam awful sound of it hitting something! yes mark its going to be treaded before i get back. tread size is another question! JRDS
You don't need a T8, the T4AR is shorter and lighter and does the same job.

JRDS
Conor, Sounds a bit strange to me. I have only used mine on my Hornet and it does a very good job, I haven't a Mod on my current 223 but used to use a PES on my last rifle which gave excellent Moderation but at a price in weight. The T4AR is rated to 223 and is small and light and to my mind would be the ideal Mod for the purpose, I would suggest you ask on the BBS if anyone uses one on a 223 and ask for their thoughts, I would think they would be positive. tikkamark
and the god dam awful sound of it hitting something! yes mark its going to be treaded before i get back. tread size is another question! You can get a neoprene cover from bushwear.com for them that slides over it to stop that noise when it comes into contact with anything only £7 As for thread size the lad that is going to thread it for you will know but just for the record my is an M18x1 fine thread With four extra baffles would the t8 not be superior to the t4?? Can see what your thinking about the length Connor, but the mod actually slides a long way over the barrel,so in fact adds very little,in fact,i think it,s only 4 inches to the overall length of the gun.Still too heavy i think though. Oly
Am thinking along the lines of an A-Tec, anyone know any cheap suppliers?? Havent had any experience of T8's personally, but a pro deer-stalking mate of mine has just told me that he has gone through 3 in 3 years (used nearly daily in all weather - although all his kit is immaculate - for goodness knows how many shots...and how many deer!)! Says they are good but very poor quality and hence recommended the A-Tec.

Bazooka Joe
Which mods are strip'able these days? Also which are stainless/alu? Anyone got any links to the details of the different ones too? Why don't you ask your mates at Cumbria's police force Oly, thought they knew best...........!!!!!!!!!!!!! If weight isn't a problem Conor, go for the Stainless PES, just have a few more Weetabix for Breakfast. :o BJ.
Sako7mm
Conor, I've got 3 different PES's, but the S5 is the best moderator I have. Forget the T8, overpriced and poorly constructed compared to the S5.
Yonic
I use a A10 on both my 223 and 6.5 and have no complaints. I can't compare to others as this is the only MOD I have shot with. Very easy to strip down and clean though, a bit time consuming but easy enough to do. I use the same one on both guns and just had to get an extra nylon bush for the second gun. As I have said no complaints at all though. Weight is a bit heavy but once on the gun i hardly notice it. Its on the 223 in my picture next to this post. It does add a bit of length to the gun but again not enough that I have felt the need to get anything done about it. Cheers Jon
