Looks entirely possible that they have been burnt by the cold.

Mine are still in the spare room awaiting planting out.

They may well recover with a lot of TLC, you seem to be on top of the slugs and snails!

Thanks 👍I suspected that the cold had something to do with their condition. Just have to see if they pick up.

You could always put a few bits of fleece over them overnight, until the risk of frost is over.  Even in the greenhouse, it gets cold enough to damage certain  plants.

I think the damage has been done to be honest but I will certainly be putting fleece over anything planted before June in the future.

They'll be fine and back to normal.in a few weeks.

I've chopped some to bits with a strimmer once when the line caught and it ran through my border. Thought I'm not bothering planting anything else and just left it. Month or so later back they came.

I always buy the frosted  cheap stuff at Homebase , B&Q  Asda or tesco  , put them in a sheltered spot for a week or two and cram them into my tubs  they always seem to pull threw

And instead of £100s of pound to do the garden its down to £30, £40 each year
