Diver One
Many years ago,I went in to local Pharmacy for 0.5kg Citric Acid. We use it in ultrasonic cleaners for cleaning diving regulators and other stuff. I got some very strange looks and was asked load of questions. Little did I know I is used for cutting Coke and heroin with. lesson learned

Andy RV
A tea spoon or two or citric acid from eBay and a squirt of washing up liquid.
Guest cookoff013
With those ultrasonic cleaners, you can get brass safe detergents for baths
phaedra1106
The citric acid is only added to act as a water softener and allow the fairy liquid and pins to do a better job. All you need is about 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon, putting more in does not make cleaning any better.
steve_b_wales
In my ultrasonic cleaner, I use warmed up Birchwood Casey Brass cleaner. There's no need to warm it though, I just think that it works faster. It should work with a wet tumbler too.
aister
Thanks for all the replies. I have cleaned some brass using only fairy liquid and warm water and pretty happy with the results. Even after an hour the brass was cleaner than it would have been after 6 hours using walnut media in the other tumbler. I bought some citrus acid to try next. aister
Excellent results using a squirt of fairy liquid and half a teaspoon of citric acid. I wish I had tried this ages ago, the brass is so much cleaner inside and out and a lot quicker.
