rb5037
I know we all have our bad days shoooting, bit like bad driving days. I treated myself to a new gun about 3-4 weeks ago and only used it twice (2 x 100 bird) at clay shooting and a couple of afternoons in the field. All occations i've been performing a bit low, hitting the normal easy shots but missing the not so easy shots that i would normaly get using my other guns. I'm hoping it's just a thing that happens from time to time and not the new gun that's not working for me. Please tell me you get days like this, that can last for a week or so ! Thanks Adam
digger
it only happens to me when i get my gun out of its slip keep at it
Guest Mr Pieman
It happens to me sometimes BEFORE I take the gun out of the slip!! I've even been known to throw my gun in the hedge and sit in the car while others shoot (before anyone cries foul, its never anywhere far so I could get into trouble with Plod - but it makes me feel better!!) If you get constant problems speak to a coach at your clay club. It will almost certainly be a simple problem that is easily rectified. Needs a different point of view to see it sometimes that's all
Cranfield
I frequently buy faulty cartridges, with no shot in them.....or so it seems. We all have off days, that can last longer than 24 hours. If you are shooting well with your other guns, but not so well with your new gun, it might be a "fitting problem". These are more common than people think.
wabbitbosher
Hows it goin dude? Does just sound like a fitting problem , or it might be a weight differance , the stock might have a different Bias! I brought an old duffer to cammo up the other day and would you believe it i hit more than normal!! ,, mind you it is true cyl on both barrels , 26"barrels (Bit of a blunderbus really)and its heavier ,,, where as my fias is CYL and IM 27 1/2" barrels 6 3/4 Lb , glad to see your back on track any way chap , speak soon WB PS got me self 5'000 acres to shoot over the other day (bout flippin time) bit of rape , bit of beans and some wheat just commin up pigeons and rabbit all over the place YUM YUM YUM
Jonnyni
I think it happens to everyone and with me I get a period of being able to hit nothing frequently. If we are out with the auto's and you miss 3 you get 'sin binned' untill someone else does it.
Fisherman Mike
rb I generally use a 16 g for most of my pigeon shooting but a couple of years ago I bought a second hand 12 g (miroku) and I couldnt hit a barn door for about 6 months. I finally got so frustrated I had a couple of hours refresher with the local CPSA coach who sorted me out... It transpired that I had picked up some really bad habits and also neither of the two guns I took actually fitted properly! Apparently my biggest fault was that I was not giving many of the birds/clays enough lead... "You always miss behind" my instructor told me. Money well spent... My shooting improved considerably after. FM.
BTMS
Lifting my head was my problem did not even know I was doing it. A good coach is worth his weight in gold. Or get your mates to video you shooting see your own bad habits its amazing what u can pick up.
The Antipodean
Like Cranfield has said it sounds like fit . Get the gun you used to shoot best with before and your new un put them them upside down ie. rib downwards onto a good straight table and check if there is a difference in height between the stocks and the table. A trap gun usually has a smaller measurement than say a sporter . This is a bit rough but you can get a quick idea of what if anything is different.

rb5037
Thanks guys for all the valid comments. Was kind of thinking it could have been the fitting (good idea about placing the other guns along side to note the differance). Plus maybe a few tutorials wouldn't go a miss, could always be better than best lol Thanks guys Wabbitbosher...... Long time no speak! It's been a while! On the mend now, waiting for one more appt with the doc but all is ok. Being back to work now means normal hours, i.e no more on the internet till 5 in the morning, hence why i haven't been on and caught you. I do miss being off ill Glad you've got some land now, you should be going out a bit more now. Speak to you later Adam
