Personally I would shorten the barrel by no more than two inches to eleviate the  silencer making the rifle unmanagible in tight spaces. Having seen and shot the 22 Hornet  and K hornet in a handgun with a 12 inch barrel it did not appear to disturb the accuracy.    A couple of inches and a well cut crown should not be a problem and will mean the rifle is only going to be three inches longer with the mod fitted.  Manageable.

On edit, I do remember shooting a T/C Contender in 22 Hornet, the rifle had a short barrel, at a guess about 16 inches.  It was a top notch Bullberry barrel and owned by the owner of that company, so a bit special.  It printed all rounds in the same hole at 50yrds if the nut behind the trigger could do the job, so assume that the same performace would ocur at longer ranges  The crown is the most important job without a doubt.
