Burney
My night vision has been perfect on my 22 just bought a 17hmr with new scope falcon menace went out last night and couldn’t get it work figured it out to be the glare off the barrel. Has anyone else had this problem? Could I put a bit of tape on the barrel to stop the glare
Walker570
Yes, did get the same off of my silencer which is a bit chunky. I just wrapped some camo tape, the type which sticks to itself and problem solved. I then fitted higher pica rail/rings which sorted the problem completely. That's what I did (camo bandage) and it solved 99% of the problem.

Dave-G
Doing whatever it takes to prevent torchlight even hitting the sound mod is a better solution rather than minimizing its reflection. Its easier to experiment with a visible lightwave torch. That can mean fitting an inch or so of thick self adhesive draught proof strip to the top front of a scope to shield it from light, move the illuminator lower or further rearwards if possible or make and fit a shroud to extend the bezel of the torch and/or scope - like a sunshade. Experiment with a kitchen or loo roll/Pringles tube for example then get a local machinist to turn one out of plastic. Some set ups can allow the torch to be placed in a different location such as below the barrel or further rearwards at the side.

I also used, with success, a piece of cardboard fitted to the lower half of the scope.
reddog
A neoprene sleeve over the moderator solved it for me with the advantage that you can take it off easily for cleaning etc.
