Dunkield
Where abouts were you Mung? My mate treated me to a day years ago and having been a flyfisherman for a while I had never seen anywhere so immaculate (too much so for some peoples liking)
Mungler
It was immaculate beauty. I should have taken my camera and aced the PW photo competition. I didn't drive, but the Directions I recall were off at M3, on the A303 for a sniffter and then through an oldy village (long straight wide high street) with a derilict petrol station in it, and a left at the end of the High Street and down some lanes. Our bit was on the estate of some chap whose grandfather pioneered a nifty WW1 era aircraft (not the Sopworth [Camel] estate). I probably should have paid more attention. I am looking into bookings for next year - client entertainment and all that.

Mungler
It is a problem. I have a flop load of work to do and all I want to do is book in for another day's fishing.
Dunkield
I have to ask . . . Do you know how much it's costs to fish the Test?
pavman
I have to ask . . . Do you know how much it's costs to fish the Test? Stu, when a man has Royal Doulton china plates for his kids pic nik in the back of the Beamer the cost of a day on the test is not a consideration Glad you had a good day mung
Mungler
I didn't cough for it but I would imagine it could hurt. How much are we talking about? I will also have to factor this into how much I knock off the client's next bill

Duffers fortnight (the Mayfly hatch) the prices go through the roof, maybe beacuse it so easy, or maybe becuase it can be exciting. I have seen anywhere from £90 to £160 a day and some add VAT to that as well
Mungler
I went on a corporate entertainment gig - all the gear and tuition to start - nice little cabin fry up, 4 course lunch and lots of booze and tea with booze. I reckon no change from £500 - £750 head for the whole day and I was lead to believe it was one of the best beats although that was probably the sale patter for the tourists. Dunkield
That, indeed, sounded like a top day out How will you go about it if you go back?
Mungler
I understand that you can get a short notice "odd space" [drops outs] and the like for £250 (and you still get the food and stuff). I will ask him to let me know if 2, 3 or 4 spaces drop out and come available. I can always find a deserving client to take at short notice. That is Stockbridge high street, nice place we were they a couple of weeks ago in the Three Cups(?) Anyways, I think you will find the Trout season ends on the rivers at the end of the month, so we be out with the Piking gear (not the Test though) I wouldn't mind a go at Grayling fishing, never tried that. So many things to try, so little time. . .
MC
Mungler, If you ever fancy doing it again, give me a shout and we will go to Chigborough near Maldon, Hanningfield is OK but it is a massive expanse of water. Chigboro' is like Tesco's, Well Stocked I have some gear if you want to borrow it. Cheers Martin
malkiserow
I know the Test, it is a wonderful river.... never tried fishing in it with a fly. I've been given a very nice fly rod recently... you've got me thinking. I was beach casting and boat fishing at the weekend... great fun also.... almost the last of the devon Mackrel for this year. They will go deeper futher out soon.
