Gordon R
Many years ago, I shot a fair bit of Skeet and fancy having another dabble. ideally, I would like somewhere which was open on weekdays. Are there any grounds in the North West, open during the week, who have Skeet layouts?
Scully
Not exactly NW, so it probably isn’t of any use, but as no one else has responded I thought I would anyhow. Westlands is the only one I know of, which is just over the Border, just outside Gretna. westlands.co.uk It is open 7 days a week.
Gordon R
Scully - thanks, but Gretna is just a tad too far. I don't know if Sealands is open during the week, but I vowed never to set foot inside the place, after some shabby treatment some 30 years ago. Scully
You’re welcome. Thought it may be a stretch from your neck of the woods. Marne Clay Shooting Club? I recall them having a skeet layout, but not a dedicated one. Still a fair haul for you but a lot closer than Westlands. Westley
Gordon, shot skeet at Sealand, North Wales Shooting ground last Saturday. At least 2 layouts open on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Cafe also open, bacon barm £2.50 and very nice too. 100 clays £25. Not too bad a journey down M6 and then M56. There is also a reasonable shop and some good offers on certain cartridge brands. Black clays against sky background. Not too many people there, so no long waits. Worth a visit. Will Poon
Gordon, sealand is open midweek. Also there’s Coniston shooting ground and Fauxdegla but thats not really northwest.
Gordon R
Thanks lads. Coniston is a definite option. Reading Westley's critique of Sealands, it might be time for a return, as it is unlikely the same pompous idiot will still be there.
