Rough shoot

This is a picture of the Mill house at Quenington. The Village in which I was born and raised.

The house is owned by Jessica Douglas-Home who employed my mother as house keeper for many years. Jessica was married to the grandson of the late Sir Alex Douglas Home, former Prime minister. 10 miles of prime fishing stretch to Fairford beyond the mill. I have caught many a fine wild brown trout from these waters.

And this is a picture of the opposite bank of my other rough shoot at Coln St Aldwyns the next village to Quenington. It is about 2 mins walk from my parents house and my inlaws also.

The river is the same River Coln. The rough shoot is called the Grandage Banks and it is owned by the same Lady who owns the Mill House at Quenington.

You can probably see why we never go far for our holidays!

Sorry guys one last photo, Not taken by me but a fisherman on the Swan Hotel Swim at Bibury which is 3 miles from Quenington and Coln St Aldwyns and on the banks of the same river Coln.

My Grandfather was born and bred in Bibury which in the 19th Century was described by William Morris as the most Beautiful Village in England.

If any of you guys ever come to the Cotswolds for the weekend you must do the three B's... Burford, Bibury and Bourton-on-the-Water.

Hope you all enjoy the photos.

Then you will know what a lovely place Burford and the surrounding areas are mate.

Your neck of the woods is nice though, I have an Aunt who lives at South Newington and I know Middleton Cheney, Great tew and Hook Norton well from my cricketing days. That Honey Dew is a great pint of beer!!

I hope missus B likes the present.

Have caught many fine fish from the windrush at Burford, through to Sherborne and the Barringtons.

Regards,

FM.
