Are 22lr sub sonics louder than they used to be?

Last lot of CCI subs had a bit of a crack to them with the odd one having an extra loud crack. Gone back to the trusted Winchester subs and they seem louder than ones 2-3 years ago.

My hearing is getting worse with age so its not that and the gun/moderator are the same-both cleaned and in good order.

out of the two the Wins grouped better for me.

I've noticed probably 1 or 2 in every box with the ccis go with a crack. I never bothered with the Winchesters as they grouped the worst in my gun when I tried them years ago. 

I don't know if it's me either but I'm sure they are louder in general, back in the day it would only be a hollow 'putt', now I'd put a tenner on it they sound louder (just had a hearing test as well and I'm good 😅)

I shoot Hornady and very very occasionally one will wake me up, but in the main they are as near silent as matters.  The impact makes more noise.

That's what I mean-the old winnie subs which have always been my 'go to' sub were a lot quieter.

might have to try the hornady next.

Try rws subs, they are quiet.

My last 500 eley subs were disheartening, pop crack going high and low, bought some cci subs and guess what, just the flaming same, going to try the match bullets next, so in response to the first post yes there is some carp subs out there
