Peregrine and Buzzard

Just been watching a dog fight against a Peregrine and  Buzzard.

The Buzzard was stuck motionless on the thermals and the Peregrine was tormenting it from above, below and any which way.

Size difference is silly to pick a fight, but I'm sure the Peregrine knew its boundaries.

I was told by someone that knows that the peregrine is pretty dumb, they rely on their speed rather than their wits.

30 something years ago I was at the top of Beeston Castle and was looking down on a buzzard and peregrine scrapping. Back then buzzards were as rare a sight as peregrines.

I bet that was a sight.

I saw some jackdaws trying to chase off a buzzard recently. Jackdaws often scrap with the local redkites, so I assumed they now have an inflated ego.

see it all the time with rooks/ravens and seagulls as we have quite a few buzzards round here

I remember a good few years ago, a peregrine had a nest in a church spire, I used to watch it coming and going, one day heard this screaming looked up to see the peregrine latched on to the back of a seagull, after a few seconds it let go of a very distressed seagull.
