Ferret664
A friend of mine has just purchased a 20 bore hushpower and was wondering what shells are best for it ?
Shotkam
Depend what the quarry is - not Hushpower cartridges that's for sure - way too expensive. Eley HiFlyer 28G No 5 fairly quiet or Hull Protwenty 71/2 are fantastic if you don't want to shoot what you eat on pest control.

Eley ct fibre wad. Can't fault them . Tried all sorts. Steer well clear of lyvale cartridges hushpowers do not like them. This was after less than 500 rounds they have a plastic obturator below the fibre wad . I have tbe investarm fully moderated one. TR1
That explains either heavy hit or miss at close range with 20b. so can choke be opened out?

Not as standard - you could get the last section of moderator beyond the barrel line bored to increase diameter and the barrels bored out, but I have not had an issue as it is and I've put thousands through it. sitsinhedges
A good factory cartridge is Eley CT 28g fibre. They are nice and quiet. I've only tried 7 1/2s but a larger size would be better if possible.
Ferret664
Right we had a brief test with 3 different cartridges today and in loudest to quietest it went lyalvale supreme game 25g 6 Sipe 28g 6 Hull high pheasant 25g 6 The Hull High pheasant was the quietest by a long way so far . Will get a few more brands to try but what surprised me was how loud the lyavale supreme game was !!
