Walker570
This morning I received another semi threatening letter regarding TV licenses. This one was probably the 25th or even 30th I have lost count. Obviously the BBC couldn't care less about the waste of the publics money ..... well those silly enough to buy a license anyway. I see they are now proposing a back door means of raising the millions required to fill their pay packets and the useless presenters etc. that I read about in the newspaper. We have not had a TV in the house for over 35years and still appear to be able to survive. I already pay over the odds in my local rates compared to a family of five just up the road, just because we happen to live in a larger detached house. Certainly bring back the Poll Tax, fair shares. The BBC should have to survive on commercial deals and compete with all the other companies ....... OH the weeping ,squealing and wailing would be heard. discobob
Are you surprised though - once you hit a tipping point the government will move to recoup the "revenue" in another form... People who have gone electric car and cowing about how cheap it is will be in for a shock when they bring in per mile charging
Gordon R
It isn't the Government who get the revenue, it is the BBC. It needs abolishing.
Stonepark
Not just charging per mile, but electricity price even over night has gone up 3x. Currently in my Duster I get 50mpg, or 11mpl, 18p\mile, or 10p\miles less road fuel duty percentage. If electricity costs is reflected by the gas price and your not protected by price cap (i.e. not charging at home) and getting 3.5mpkw, you will be paying 60p to 65p a kwh, come October and about 18p\mile. Even at home, and overnight charging on off peak meter, you are going from 3-5p\kwh to 15p to 25p, but again your day rates will be north of 50p\kwh. If winter power supplies (due to lack of gas) goes to pot, you could end up paying more for electricity than diesel from April 2023.
old man
Rip off UK? Give away ownership of the essentials of life? Sponsor the rip offs that everyone could do without? The BBC should be subscription only?
