digger
Piece of the proverbial ! Easy to check, try putting a win treble on England to win all three international games and see the odds, they are rather poor. A win in the football is a given, the rugby tight and the cricket ? Tough call. My money is on the pack to grind the french down and a couple of tries, a win in the football by some over paid fools and a win in the cricket too. Is it ok to compare the shameful rendition of the national anthem at the football with the pride displayed by the England rugby team when they sing it ? Those of scottish, welsh and irish persuasion will be cheering france but, hey, we cant all be English
henry d
Hard, but so was Agincourt, Crecy, Poitiers, and dare I mention............. Trafalgar ! "England expects that every man willll do his duty" Horatio Lord Nelson 1758-1805 "Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more; Or close the wall up with our English dead. In peace there's nothing so becomes a man As modest stillness and humility: But when the blast of war blows in our ears, Then imitate the action of the tiger; Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood...... ..... And you, good yeoman, Whose limbs were made in England, show us here The mettle of your pasture; let us swear That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not; For there is none of you so mean and base, That hath not noble lustre in your eyes. I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips, Straining upon the start. The game's afoot: Follow your spirit, and upon this charge Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!' dazzyboi
I didnt think England would come this far in the rugby, at the beginning of the pool stages they did look very weak, but they have been building up and getting stronger as a team... Lets av them frogs!!!!! RAAAAARRRRRRRRR!!! awww its gonna be **** when the RWC finishes no more decent rugby union till the 6 nations in feb/march. albifrons
I think that all sports fans will cheer England to victory now that their own national teams are out. They deserve their wins. What is not needed is stupid statements like " other nationals will be cheering France". What annoys me is the media's "Johnny mania" when there are 22 other guys in the squad giving their all. Worzels tap tackle at the end has virtually gone unmentioned! Good luck England and keep the cup in the Northern Hemisphere.
digger
Albi, take it you have never been in Scotland when England are playing and the scots are not ? What is not needed is stupid mis quoting.
dustyfox
I live in Scotland and I support all home nations. But when we play against eachover, I say let the best team win.
albifrons
"Those of scottish, welsh and irish persuasion will be cheering france but, hey, we cant all be English " No stupid misquote there. Try reading it again.
digger
" Other nationals cheering on France " , nope cant see that anywhere but your post. Take it that "statement" was an abridged misquote or your inability to read ? Never mind, back to reading the Gaurdian Mr Liberal
