Scully
Can I ask why you have a dove ‘season’? Are they not classed as a pest species in America?
kitchrat
All for a bag limit of 15! Hardly worth the effort? I shot a few in Texas once, they are much smaller than a woody but do taste nice after hitting the BBQ!
simcgunner
Doves are considered migratory game and shooting is by season and a daily limit of 12 to 15 depending on the year. It is a lot of work for just a few birds. This is not to much bother for us though as it signals the start of our hunting season sort of like the glorious 12th over there. The dove shoot is something we look forward to and some people plant sunflowers just to attract them . It is a tradition here in the southern states. building a hide putting out decoys and this day I drove over 3 hours to shoot with friends. Not cost effective but we keep doing it for the enjoyment. this year was very good and we all shot our limits. it is illegal to sell or barter any game animal in the US. It is also to kill any game and waste. Pests include feral pigs, rats pythons in Florida, nutria.and coyotes in most places.
