243deer Posted April 20, 2023 Report Share Posted April 20, 2023 I am refurbing a notice board made of oak. It was last done 5 or 6 years ago with danish oil which I have not used before. It appears that there is no specific recipe for Danish oil and I read a lot of negative reviews about some brands and it appears that you get what you pay for. Anyone regularly use a brand of Danish oil on oak that they can recommend please? I was planning to prep with fine wire wool, is this the right approach? Any advice appreciated. Ultrastu Posted April 20, 2023 Report Share Posted April 20, 2023 DONT use wire wool on oak .especially out side .the iron reacts with the oak when water or moisture is present and will burn it black in around 30 mins .this is irreversible .
