SPAS 15
Got an old shotgun that is chambered for 2 1/2” which in metric is 63.5mm. The nearest cartridge size I can find is 65mm. I know it is only 1.5 mm but will it be safe to fire? Am I being over cautious? Thanks for any advice.

Westley
Some cartridges are 67.5 and I have used those through my 2 1/2" chambered gun.
gmm243
I have a Charles Lancaster with 2.5" Chambers. Use up to 67.5mm shells with no issue. Not always easy to find shells in 7.5 or 8's which is what I use for snipe and woodcock.
Dave at kelton
It usually says on the box suitable for 2 1/2” chambered guns in 65 & 67.5mm.

The problem can be pressure - as 2 3/4" guns are a higher proof pressure. I note that some 28g cartridges (12 bore) come in 2 3/4 cases - possibly to allow for reliable operation in pumps and semi autos?
