30-6
In the pic this sapling is ready to go out in the big wide world. Grown from an acorn, it has been in my son's garden to educate my grandson. Should I cut the long side shoot back, or just plant it and leave nature take its course ? TIGHTCHOKE
Plant it somewhere with permission and let nature take its course.

JohnfromUK
I was always told that you should trim side shoots before they get too big to give a single leader. I was also told that you should never trim off more than about 30%. https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/types/trees/formative-pruning Edited August 30, 2023 by JohnfromUK
