steve_b_wales
Does anyone collect the above badges - AA etc?
JohnfromUK
My father had a very early AA badge - plain brass (or copper?). It had been his father's (my grandfather's) and had his membership number stamped on it. Not sure what happened to it. I have several photos of my grandfather doing motoring activities just pre WW1. The one I have appears to be steel(?) and according to the serial number on it, dates to around the 1960's. It came off my grandfathers Austin Cambridge. JohnfromUK
We had another that was chromed (presumably steel) with a yellow background. I can't remember if it had a number. Like this (internet photo) Grandfathers was something like this;
steve_b_wales
Yes, I think mine is chromed, and is identical to yours. The serial number on it, according to AA records states that it's from 1960 -
JohnfromUK
I don't know what became of mine. They have not been fitted to cars for a great many (maybe 50?) years, and I can remember them 'around', but can't remember seeing them in years. Maybe given away, or 'lurking' in a box somewhere - no idea where to even begin to start looking!

Westley
I have these, which have been on my previous vehicles. The younger badge of the 2 suffered damage, as did my car. Caused by some anti's coming away from the Waterloo Cup, in the early 80's. Edited April 8 by Westley

The third one in the photo is exactly the same as the one I've got.

Going slightly off subject , I once had a chrome ash tray with a AA chrome badge that screwed into the middle of the ash tray , not sure if the AA gave them free to members or weather you had to buy them , my one was fairly old but in very good condition and I bought it off a car boot for a fiver , as I don't smoke I stuck it on Ebay and a lady bought it for her husband as a Christmas present , I think it made about £20 . sutty2006
I found a period 80s AA badge for my 1986 Carlton. I have the above chromed AA badge in the garage but they’re 60s and the oldest car I have is 76 so I might put it on that.
