SWHunter
Joe has told Hopkins to put up or shut up, Hopkins camp has told Joe's camp that if he wants a shot at him he will have to go to the states, what are you thoughts. I bet you Joe would go over there to get it on but I bet you that Hopkins won't be coming over here. What about a contract that states Joe has to go over to fight Hopkins and whatever the outcome, Hopkins has to come here to fight Joe say 8 - 10 months later, that way I think it's being fair to them both, it's a fight we would love to see
jonno 357
He is only fighting twice at light heavy weight when he is retiring. Hopkins has already stated he won't fight in UK and the fight should go ahead in the Gardens next year Hopkins at 40? is looking for a big payday (so is Joe) so the gardens with the US media circus would be the idea venue for both fighters to make plenty of money Wouldn't expect it to be a classic fight. If you've seen Hopkins fight you will know what I mean. Anyone going over to see Hatton on the 8th? Jonno
SWHunter
I won't be going to see Hatton fight but he is another excellent gutsy boxer who Britain should be proud of, come on Blue Moon. Good luck Ricky

Actually he isn't the greatest British boxer we have had. Calzaghe has had a long reign and the Lacy fight was his crowning career best Having only ever boxed twice out of UK(both muppets) once in Denmark 4th rd TKO and once in Germany 6th rd TKO Veit. This guy was a mandatory challenger Calzaghe now moves up a weight division to light heavy weight to fight a 40 year old Anyone remember Ken Buchanan ? berettaman1
I remember I was driving in the Litchfield Rd Walsall when the news came on the radio to say buchanan had been beaten by "Stone Hands" Roberto Duran, And when Barry M,cwigan fought in the red hot time of midday in America (he was beaten by the heat that time.) I said Joe Calzaghe was the greatest because he has unified the 3 belts on offer, I have seen some great fights with British fighters, Benn, Ubank, Minter, etc I remember the tragedy of several fighters British and American, who have fought and ended up nearly blind and now in wheelchairs , We all have our heroes Joe is ,with the others, A great fighter. EDIT, I forgot to mention of course Lennox Lewis!, but as he lived most of his early years in Canada I dont know if he was a Brit? again top man. I also rememberone of the most savage/brutal fights in a british ring when Nigel benn fought Gerald Macellen? and poor macellen ended up allmost a paraplegic. Cranfield
I agree that Hopkins is looking for a big contribution to his (soon) retirement fund and the fight will take place in the US. That shouldn't bother Calzaghe, a lot of British fighters have done well in the States and their travelling support can be heard in the crowd. Gordon R
Jonno - I honestly can't recall a better boxer from these shores. Ken Buchanan - I assume your are having a laugh. Got easily beaten when he moved up in class and made an embarassing comeback. Alan Minter, Nigel Benn were a class above Buchanan.

the hitman
I think joe c has what it takes to beat Hopkins , and Hopkins has known this for some time. It will be a cracker if it comes off. As far as the best from these shores , he is up there with the best of them. I think the best performances by british boxers are , Nigel Benn beating Mclellan , was a hell of a victory , because at that time nobody else would fight Mclellan he was awsome. Honeyghan beating Don Curry was a hugh upset at the time.
