The biggest number we could see was 50-60, slowly built up over an hour. I showed myself and they all jumped up, some left and some went into local trees. Over the next hour they slowly filtered back. That number on a big field is hardly worth setting up for and I'm sure that 1 shot would have sent them from the trees to distant places and further slowed the rate of return. Some seemed a bit flocked up but the individuals/pairs just flipped out of the trees onto whichever part of the field they fancied, ie didn't decoy to birds already there. Maybe tomorrow? Unbelievable. Get in and a have a go. I'm beginning to think you don't want to put the effort in they ain't going to fall all over you every day. Read again advise given and enjoy being out. Or as been said sell up and find something else.

Meantime, I'm trying to be optimistic and hope it builds up, whilst posting stuff to keep you all commenting.
marsh man
This time next week ( BB ) Ben will be back from reducing the fish numbers from where he have been spending his holiday , numbers of Pigeons would have built up nicely on his patch and I wouldn't be surprised if we are reading about a three figure bag this time next week , or might even be before that if he is already making his way back home , so for the time being we will have to keep an eye open for the first signs of dust coming out of the back of a combine and within a couple of days we will be saying there is far to much food for the Pigeons to feed on , then the stubbles will be ripped up before the curtains are drawn on another Summer , us armchair Pigeon shooters will have to spend more time in the cookery section and maybe someone will show us how to cook our bag if we get any . Give it a go, you won’t really know until you set up…..sometimes you’ll get good days when you don’t really expect it! A couple of years back now there was an old chap on one of the farms I go on who used to be parked up watching the peas nearly every time I went to look, daily I think but didn’t shoot any decent bags. He used to spend so much time watching he’d talk himself out of setting up as there may be more there tomorrow etc or set up and be gone in a couple of hours. I shot several good bags that year and he couldn’t understand how I did it 🤷🏽 If you’ve got lots of time on your hands have a drive round and look at some other farms in the area as it doesn’t sound like you’ve access to multiple farms, try and obtain some more shooting perhaps where the pigeons are? If you’re limited to one farm you’re unlikely to be able to keep shooting numbers, I’ll often find some farms will produce one year and another the next etc.
