flippermaj
The local farm has a field of barley with some small patches in the centre of the field, not flat but starting to go down, and the pigeons have found it. The field is bordered by standing rape and more standing barley. So it wasn't possible to shoot the centre as there was no large flat patch and with standing crops all around that left one option, to shoot birds fliting around over some rough ground that borders one section of the crops. Had a good couple of hours and no need for decoys or a hide so a minimal approach which I always like. Picked my shots so they landed in the rough ground but still couldn't pick 3 of them it is such a jungle, managed 12 including the 3 not picked, so happy with that and a happy farmer as he knows I have my eye on the field. A bit of irony in that my "hide" for the session was a a clay pigeon trap house, better use of the trap house than chucking clays out of it! oowee
Good work. I have made a hide in the middle of a crop with just the smallest flat patches. Using the tractor lines to get in. Drop the birds for the foxes.

Wilts#Dave
Well done for getting out, I’m sure the farmer appreciated it!
marsh man
Just being there is all it often takes to keep in the landowners good books , and I bet he haven't got a gas gun that could kill that amount of Pigeons , so keep up the good work . They love their gas guns round here but they only scare the birds off for a while, eventually they still eat the same amount of rape anyway, it just takes them longer. The birds in my freezer eat no more rape but try explaining that!
