Posting because I've just noticed what is missing from the Lyalvale Express product range.

In the wider more common usage shot size range and if we accept 7&1/2s as a recognised size - this is missing from some tables, the biggest pellet count gap between any two adjacent full sizes is that between 6s and 7s which is smack bang in the middle of the afore mentioned more popular usage range. These two sizes are also smack bang in the middle of the pattern failing before energy syndrome. Fortunately, we've always had 6&1/2s to plug that gap. The energy loss between these and 6s is no that great and the pellet count difference does make them a worthwhile consideration. Over the years I've ducked and dived with RWS, Eley and Gamebore not to mention various other foreign makes -  as one after the other they've disappeared -  to get my sticky little fingers on 6&1/2s, but I've noticed that these have now disappeared from Lyalvale except for the very pricey grouse range. This omission now jus leaves us with these and the equally pricey Hull Partridges offering.

As per the title, is this because we (as a group) don't think that they have any merit and therefore don't buy sufficient to merit their production or is it because the makers wish to keep the size at the pricey end of the market?

Probably  .

I've always thought that 2.5 mm /  no 6 1/2   would be the best  pellet for pigeon .crows .clays . Etc  to my mind at least it sits right in the middle of pellet count v energy v pattern size  .

I tend to go down to 2.4 mm  euro no 7 1/2

As they are often cheaper than going up to a 2.6 mm English no6 .

I use RC Professional Game. 28 grams Italian #7 and marked as 7 on the plastic case. But at 2.5mm they are UK #6 1/2. And a true 65mm case to boot! Here's an old review that mentions it:

Yep, good cartridge but a tad too hard on the shoulder for me when pigeon shooting but the 6s (5&1/2s) for walked up game with far fewer shots were ideal.
