Hi ... Normally when I want to post a photo , I take the photo , put the memory card into the computer , after a few seconds the Black screen come on and the previous photos numbers spin round and then my new ones come onto the screen , I can then click in the small box the ones I want to keep and then click the import tab , these then go on my file and the rest is easy .

Now when I put my memory card in with the new photos it just show the new photos in my file and I cannot import any of them , a totally different set up to how it was , WHY should this be ?  THANKS.

Plug the cable you use to charge the phone into the USB port on your PC, windows should start the Photos program, you can save/import from there.

You can also manually click your way to the folder holding your phones pictures.

THANKS for the help and advice , the cable that charge my phone didn't fit unless I put it in the wrong hole ( which I haven't done for a number of years  ) , so as I was going up town I took my laptop with me and popped in a very helpful computer shop , told the bloke the problem and all he done was pressing a load of buttons and talking computer jargon which when I came out I was non the wiser , I asked him how much ? and he said nothing although if you want to put something for our tea break then that would be appreciated , so I gave him £4( pensioners rate ) , getting home I done what he said and still no joy but with a lot of fiddling about and a lot of swearing I managed to do in a kind of fashion , but there is no doubt a easier way which I will try and work it out , but again THANKS .  MM

No , my phone cable have got a three pin plug that go into the mains and the other end go into my mobile phone .

I have now got to work out how to delete all the trial and error photos I done while trying various ways to get round the problem , I have done it as sorts , but I am sure there is a easier way than what I am doing at the moment , one thing I might try during the week is to buy another memory card so it start from fresh rather than flick through 1500 photos to get to the ones I have just taken .:hmm:   MM

It will be USB C one end and micro USB into the phone, if it's a few years old. Micro USB in profile looks like a capital D that's been stepped on.

I managed to retrieve poor quality photos off my dad's old Doro phone before he upgraded to a smart phone.

The digital camera standard for years was USB C to USB mini, if you look at it in profile it looks like narrow rectangle with 2 sides bent towards each other. Trapizium is apparently the word I was looking for...

Many THANKS for your detailed reply , for someone who have never sent a text and can't even delete the messages of my so called simple mobile phone this do seem like a foreign language to me , in fact I think I could understand the growing numbers of Romanians citizens that are overtaking our seaside town easier than the excellent reply you sent me , I would pop round yours and hopefully you could be kind enough to show me , but I have to revert to the number one P / W saying , if only you were closer  :drinks:

There's always children or grandchildren, they can usually sort out IT woes. I've been doing it for my parents and one remaining grandparent for decades.

I grew up with technology so it kind of becomes second nature, I came up with the simple premise that most computer or smartphone operations are yes or no questions. In windows they became OK or cancel.

I have now been on a computer for more than ten years and for most of the time I can get by , but when something go wrong I haven't a clue to how to sort it out , most of the time when something go wrong it was my doing in the first place or the internet is down , the computer have never been a hobby of sorts but I now find I am using it more and more for various things like buying things you can no longer get in the rapidly declining shops ,  selling a few bits on Ebay and sorting any problems out with various companies .

When one of my grand daughters come to mine which isn't very often as she have only just got back after spending two years in Australia she sort it out in minutes , the same with the bloke who done it Saturday , trouble is they seem to think I know all the basics and after they had done there bit I still ain't much wiser , it would be better if they let me do it and then put me right when I go wrong , which seem pretty regular

No , you are one of the lucky ones Bob by having both beauty and brains ( or a certain amount ) , I thought that was normal for the folk north of the border , we haven't got neither but we have got a few extra finger and toes to make up for it , that is why we often get asked to lend someone a hand 😋

I have now got a new question for you my friend , I took some photos today to try and make the importing easier and this time I had a little Red cross and it came up that my cloud was full up :hmm:, this is way behind me and it seem I am heading for the outer limits in the solar system , I take it I have got a fair bit of deleting to do to make some space , is this correct , or have you got a better idea ? :drinks:

If you haven't got anything that you want to delete, make a new account with a new email address. More space but you might want to note down the new email and password if you're anything like my grandpa. :P

No , I have quite a lot to delete which are mostly old Ebay items photos and several other bits and pieces , When I fiddled about with it on the deleting bit it said are you sure you want to delete the lot which were around 4,500 , I started to delete them one at at a time and at that rate the light nights will be back and the combines will out in the grain fields

Bit confused here, why would he need a new cloud account when he is saving his photos on the SD card?
