islandgun Posted Thursday at 21:37 Report Share Posted Thursday at 21:37 (edited) Thinking ahead to the spring I should have available approx £2000 to spend on a suitable 12 bore for clays. It is my intention that myself and wife could do a tour of some of the clay clubs on the mainland when having our short breaks. Options include miroku, browning and winchester and a little different fabarm and yildiz both of which have adjustable stocks (which I like). I've scoured g.t but welcome any preferences clay shots might have. Secondly was thinking to shorten the stock and fit a kick eeze on my old Berretta s56e 12 bore for my wife, it has 26" barrels but if using light loads should be soft on the shoulder. Any thoughts ? .....She is a strong woman😁 Edited Thursday at 22:14 by islandgun

The mainland is well supplied with 21 gram and 24 gram 12 bore clay loads so in effect you've a 20 bore load in a 12 bore gun that's cost you merely the price of shortening the stock and fitting a pad. The only caveat would be to wear good hearing protection. But a benefit is that you also have no danger of mixing 20 and 12 bore cartridges in the same pocket or cartridge satchel. islandgun Posted Friday at 05:57 Author Report Share Posted Friday at 05:57 (edited) Will get her to try the Berretta as is for fit and comfort, if not suitable will look at small bore options. Edited Friday at 12:36 by islandgun
B391 Posted Friday at 09:46 Report Share Posted Friday at 09:46 These manufacturers all have guns designed to fit ladies, perhaps that could be an idea to try one or two specifically tailored for women?

Agreed that would be a long term option, atm I dont know if she will take to it or not. I guess she could rent a gun at the club. Just found out her arms barely reach the grip and she dont like the weight, looks like a youths 28g might fit the bill. me Ive just seen a lovely Bates sidelock 1920's.... Personally, I wouldn't touch it until you've both made a decision as to whether or not the good lady will 'take to it' and even then, should she do so. I'd think twice. For 2k - or less - you could easily get one each to suit and that may well also get you a fair few slabs of ammo'.

Thanks for posting [always a pleasure to read your posts] the 56 will remain un touched. I will just use it myself and get her/us 😉. a Yildiz or similar 28 bore. I am being drawn to some nice sxs sidelocks to spend my hard earned savings on. Not sure my vibe is cool trap gun, skeet vest and yellow sunglasses TBH, more old barbour, damascus barrels and a p.o.w grip..

One of your final two options relates to fashion and the other to style. I'm pretty sure that you know which way around that is.
