TIGHTCHOKE Posted Wednesday at 13:05 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 13:05 Gordon Bennett, is everyone okay? That is shocking.
JohnfromUK Posted Wednesday at 13:41 Report Share Posted Wednesday at 13:41 Glad all is sorted now, but it is very worrying not being able to count on the emergency service when you need it. We have all paid in (or been suitably credited where there has been a disability etc) all our working lives - and we are simply not receiving anything like the service we were told we would get. They are getting further and further from their service level targets - ambulance, NHS and police (I'm not sure on the fire service). Not 'party' political - GOVERNMENT incompetence. Yes thanks thanks to a retired doctor who lives opposite to us. ambulance service suggested to go to A&E where there is a twelve hour wait. I had a gall bladder flare up one night, (not the first time, been waiting 2 years for removal, still not done) didnt sleep a wink the pain was REALLY bad, I waited till 5am and called 111 (mainly to get seen quicker at A+E) After a very short conversation, they said they were sending an ambulance ! I told them I could drive to A+E, they said no, you need an ambulance, which arrived in about 20 mins. Blood pressure was through the roof, and the ambulance staff said they were taking me in. Arrived at A+E and got parked in a bay, they said theyd bring some morphine (they didnt) after an hour they shunted me into a corridor, where I stayed for 5 hours in considerable pain. Then got moved back into a bay where a junior doctor eventually got me some pain relief (which was great !) promptly fell asleep. They woke me up at 4pm and gave me a prescription for morphine and antibiotics and discharged me, so no actual 'treatment' . Went to the pharmacy at QMC to get my drugs (1.5 hour wait) to then be told they had no antibiotics ! I got home at 7pm. Nottinghamshire health trust, not fit for purpose.
