Don`t even go there, unless you are less than 20 yards from a fox, and at that range 4`s will kill them alright thanks. WH
Baldrick
You want 25g size 6 for rabbits, pigeons and crows. Nothing more, or the recoil will start to outweigh the benefits of using a light gun. Please don't bother shooting foxes with a 20-bore. I wouldn't dream of it, and I'm a competent shot and I'm confident in my ability to judge distance. If you HAVE to shoot foxes with a shotgun, you need proper cartridges - I use 42g #1s, out of a heavy 12-bore, when I don't have a rifle to hand. Sundodger
I use a 20b and use 28gram cart`s for every thing, but do not shoot Foxes. Sundodger
Ferret Master
I use 28g of 6's for general stuff out of my 20 bore. I have 4 32g no.3 semi magnum 20 bore loads in my spare pocket incase charlie puts in an appearance near my chickens while I'm out shooting but I am yet to use them. A 20 bore is not a fox gun really. If going out specifically for fox I would take the 12 bore with BB's. FM

nav54
6 28 or 6 30 for game and pest mate but no foxes with a 20bore.
al4x
stupid question but why not shoot foxes with a 20 bore? I've shot more than a few with 30gram 12 bore game loads and you can get very near to that with a 20bore. OK you need to limit the range to sub 20 yards but they will definitely do the job. You don't go equipped to shoot foxes with one but I've seen plenty taken on driven pheasant days with a 20 and they certainly seem as effective as a 12 bore. You also don't have to contend with the agro from the keeper for watching one run past!
Ears
al4x has as nice pair of guns on his photie. anyway 20 bore loads. i would say 23 to 26 grams of 6 shot. but i use 28 gram loads in my 20 bore with good results. try a few different makes and find one that you like.
