Look what Trix and I found

Recommended Posts

A few pics of a stray that Trix and I picked up at her parents farm. We went around to the other farm etc in the area and all we could find out is he has been around for about 2 weeks. Have called all the vets in the area, and the animal shelters but no luck :oops: Of course no collar or chip.

Judging by the conformation, angulation and overall appearance I am thinking grey hound x bull breed....possibly pit bull.... about 2 years old. An absolute dream to have in the house and he loves the kids...has already eaten 2 of them :oops: He is just off brindle in color and his only fault that I can find is his front dew claws. He is now crate trained and well settled in. Still looking for an owner but I have a feeling he has been dropped in which case he will be welcomed here if we can not find him a home.

Of course I am lookng very hard....... :good: just ask Trix :lol:

May let him see a bunny on the weekend to see what he does. :)

I think your guess on the cross looks about right, what is the problem with the dew claws, I cannot see clearly enough on the pics ?

The only problem is that he has them.

I absolutly hate them on a working dog as sooner or later they will be torn and then it will be into the vet, anistetic, dews removed and a $150.00 bill. It is so much easier to remove them at 48 hours of age.

You lucky boy :good:

BTW I am guessing he will decimate a scutail.

I did a bit of retrieving with him today with a nice soft puppy canvas.....very soft mouth and gentle delivery. I can see the biggest problem is going to be recall as his is very poor at the moment...mind you he had no leash training on him 2 days ago and is now heeling like a trooper, sitting and waiting, so maybe it will come quickly aswell.

I really hope he will strike and carry......as of yet still no owners located.

looks a strong dog Dan...

looks almost like a 'pig dog'......ridgeback bull x of some average :good:?

I thought that a possibility aswell Paul, but I think the bone structure is just a little to light, the coat too thin and the rear end a little to elevated for ridgeback. Which is what makes me think greyhound cross.

:D:lol::good::good:

Now it is time to get some good obediance founded on him and a solid recall as I have a feeling I know what he was surviving on the two weeks he was running.....He also needs to be tested around all stock and cats to be sure he is steady.
