I was checking what was about in my local gunshop, and they had an Escort semi with a black synthetic stock new for £299. That's just a little temptng for a lamping gun, it even has a rail to fit a red dot sight to, which I would like to give a go.

Does anyone have one? What are they like?

Thanks

Nick

Yeah i have a Escort but the 3 1/2" magnum version. Why would you want to put a red dot sight on it?

Just to see what it's like!:)

I'm not on about a laser, a red dot sight just superimposes a dot over the target, very fast and accurate in practical pistol as you keep both eyes open. Just wanted to try in lamping. (I was only gonna nick the one off my daughters air rifle anyway!)

Probably be ****, but you never know! I wonder who the first bloke was who put a second barrel on his gun? His mates probably said "what's the point!"

I Brought one from Goldfish on here a while ago and it's OK! :) Only had one jam from a box of 25 light clay loads. Put 125 through it the week after christmas without a problem....well apart from the rib burning my hand when i turned it over to reload!

Good value for money but don't pay £299 for a gun and expect it to be Zoli quality

I'm sure somebody who doesn't own one will be along soon and say how **** they are, but I love mine.

It's the second one I've owned and only got rid of the first to help finance a "best" gun.

Mine was £280 brand new, it's synthetic, even has the new trio stock.

where, the place I went in to last week (in baldock, herts) had them for £395!

Helston gunsmiths in Cornwall has them for £299 new. From all I've read, it seems this would be a very good field gun for the money. Just need to convince the wife (who wants an o/u) that it'd be ok for her too!

Got mine from a place called Swillington shooting supplies near Leeds, West Yorkshire and as I said - £280 brand new. They advertise on Guntrader and are really helpful. It has the new style trio stock pad, but some pads are longer than others so they even swapped the pad on it for another shorter one at no extra charge.

Neither of my local RFD`s will stock them any more as they have had so many return through malfunction, same goes for the Turkish guns(can`t remember the name) that were on sale in the UK over the past 3-4 years.

If you`re happy to spend @ £300 on a gun that doesn`t have the same reliability and after sales parts that remi`s, beretta`s etc have then :good:

well mine is the latest trio pad version (looks like the browning cynergy but pad)

it also came with 2 different pads and several spacers so very adjustable, as for

reliability me and the missus have put around 2000 shells through ours in about

3 months :good: it has the odd not cycle moment but only with shells it's not supposed

to cycle anyway. we use mostly eley first 28g which at 2 1/2" are not supposed to cycle

but 99% of the time it does no problem. I'm sorry but you can't knock em not for the money

like I said £265 at my rfd you can't buy anything s/h for that money and a 3 year guarantee

to boot. they do use o rings though but maybe that's down to heavy use with 2 of us shooting

the same gun so much. I have a new benelli now so wifey has claimed the escort and is totaly

happy with it

With regards to the comments about after sales parts / service of "better" guns such as beretta, remington etc...

I can speak from personal experience that GMK are a nightmare to deal with and about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Surely with the amount of escort's now sold, there wouldn't be a spares issue anyway?

I can appreciate that there are far better made guns than the escort but as many of us owners have said, they're cheap, shoot straight and I for one don;t mind mine getting soaked with rain and covered in estuary mud!On the flip side of the coin, if I had say a Benellie SBE 2, I don;t think I'd want to take it foreshore fowling.

I have found Edgar Bros better to deal with than GMK and BW as far as spares are concerned

i needed some o rings and after a quick call from cheshire gun rooms i had a parcel 2 days later

with 3 brand new o rings and no charge  I also wanted a 26" barrel as the wife wanted that

size when we first purchased the gun but we couldn't find one so we got a 28". the new barrel came

this week after a few days wait and we tried it out today, what a difference 2" can make  the gun

feels lighter, better balanced and easier to swing and point at the target but overall lighter, wifey is a happy

bunny and has consigned the 28" barrel to the back of the cabinet  maybe it can be used for

a bit of wildfowling should the chance arrise (any offers  ) the barrel cost £110 now i asked for a price

of a barrel for the beretta urika 2 and lets just say it cost more than the escort  i suppose you pays your money

and takes your choice, unfortuanatley some of us have much tighter budgets than others, true we can all save our

pennies and buy a £1500 browning or beretta but some people (well me actually) can't justify spending that kind

of dosh on a gun. and when all's said and done our escort shoot's just as good as any other gun
