Dunkield
It's not really Englands thing is it, football? I am the first to admit I am not a footie fan, but when I do make the effort it seems to be 90 minutes of relative boredom followed by days of excuses

migster
First half was like watching school stuff, they couldn`t string two passes together, The second half was a bit better, joe cole was my man of the match. Cappello has his work cut out with this lot, he`s going to have to work for those ££££££££££££££££
BSA Shaun
Glad for once that everyone is not getting all hyped up over an England win. Capello will be good for the job, its good to see some fresh faces and I would rather see that team than one with Lampard, Terry etc who I believe sit on their laurels these days. Job well done, but a long way to go.
pumpitup
First half was absolutely dire, made me want to stick hot needles in my eyes Second half was better, not brilliant, but showed some promise. Rooney should have been man of the match, what a work horse. All said and done, still need to find another 30-40% from somewhere.

Owenwill
Still trying to figure out how Gerrard got man of the match, had to be Cole.Rooney or Bentley surely, I know I'm a sour Evertonian but come on
pavman
Possession is 9/10 of the Law also works in footy, well it did last nite
Spaniel
No idea also how Gerrad got Man of the Match!!!!! Rooney had a few goes but not much on target... Joe Cole excellent as always Bentley played well. So any of those should of been MOM. But 1st half im not sure about school boy footie, as i think school boys would play better.. 2nd half improved but as useual final seconds we nearly screwed things up..and i told the MRs i knew what was going to happen and it almost did. They have got so much to do to just to bond as a Team, before worrying about World Cup Qualifiers...but I want to go and watch them in one of these matches..dont think theres no point waiting for them to get into the Finals of any Comp Cheers
Cranfield
It's not really Englands thing is it, football? The worrying bit is, that I'm not sure what England's "thing" is, its certainly not rugby. I thought Rooney was MoM and Gerrard, Cole and Barry seemed to disappear for a lot of the time. Bentley was OK, but can be selfish and its a pity Wright-Phillips scored, as it makes him look better than the waste of space he really is. Ashley Cole and Brown were both very poor. It was interesting how John Motson and Mark Lawrenson were saying that International football can't be played like Premier League football, it is more like Champions League football, where possession is paramount and you have to play slower and be patient.....what a joke. This was almost echoed in the halftime discussion when I think "patient" was just about every other word. Am I the only one that noticed Alan Shearer was the only person not wearing a black tie ? BSA Shaun
If you wore a black tie every time someone had died in an aircrash, you would never take it off. I am not saying that the deaths should not be mourned, but by people who didn't even know them? To me it's not necessarily wrong - if you feel a personal grievance then yes and as a public figure maybe he should have worn a black tie, but as people lose people every day and they were just as flesh and blood, and meant just as much to their families as those in the public eye, we do not mourn those people do we. Not interested in an argument and have not worded this as so, just my honest opinion. Edited February 7, 2008 by BSA Shaun
dustyfox
I just hate it when the fans and press blame the manager if they lose. I think England are really lucky to have a manager like capello, just dont blame the manager again if they lose the match as I dont think you will get a better one than this one. Devon Fox
we can only get better, Capello is a class act, give the bloke time and we might just compete one day! MOM would be for me between Cole,Rooney,Bentley, i would prob go for Bentley, looks good for the future, i have high hopes!
