Does anybody know of any one in the uk that would be able to check over and fit a new stock to the above gun,It was given to me by a cousin who has now given up shooting, I have used said gun and found it to handle very well the stock had been broken and repaired by a wood butcher hence a replacement stock is required, Hoping for replies thanks lads .

Have you thought about having a go yourself.

I had a nice bit of Walnut given to me for @ £20 off a member of this forum and was able to make a pretty good effort for my old No 4 AyA.

Takes a lot of time and effort but saves a fortune, especially on a gun that isn't worth the cost of new wood.

I recently managed to crack the stock rather badly on one of my 12 bores.

using a knightsbridge gunshop www.raywardgunsmith.com. They did a superb job and I highly recommend their professional quick service.

It cost a little over £1000 but the stock was better than the original in walnut with a beautiful finish.

Ray Ward probably outsourced having it done.

Go to source, try Sorrel Bros in East Grinstead for a quote, they do it there themselves.

You can get it done in the far east for 1/2 the money if you have the time to wait and the old stock to pattern ( difficult sending the actions over - need export license etc)

If you PM Cranfield he may have the number of a man known as Chris O.

I have lost his details but definitely gave them to Cranfield.

Excellent stock work Graham

Graham, how did you manage with cast on/off? did you bend to suit?

F

The wood was 2½†thick so it was a simple case of cutting the head in the middle and then going back to the top strap. Then it was just a case of moving the butt pad over to the one side (@ 9mm cast) and joining the two up.
