I have just looked after 2 danes who wanted some pigeon shooting for 2 days, while over roebuck stalking.

Day one, dane 1 on flattened pea field, 540 shots, picked up 34

dane 2 on rape stubble field, 375 shots, picked up 23

Day two, they swapped fields

dane 1, 410 shots, picked up 26

dane 2, 490 shots, picked up 42

so they had 1815 shots and i picked up 125 birds.

what would some real boys have shot ?:D??:D

I wish i had shot it.

But they did shoot 6 roebucks 1 should be a gold and 2 could be silver medals !

Before you cast aspertions on the aim of the Danes or the Danes aim you should know that JONO and I went out a week ago and wasted about 75 cartridges for about 8 birds :*) :*) :*)

There were plenty of Birds about but they didnt decoy well.

I have been using a shotty for 25 years and my aim is getting progressively worse at the moment it is so bad I could probably get in the British Olympic team.... (sarcastic jibe)

The noise of the guns going off was drowned by Jonno in the next hide cursing "How did I miss that" and me going " How did you miss that"

Sorry JONO I had to tell them. :D:lol:

When to the pea field today,

Started with a magnet but the birds shyed away,

took it in and got going well,

12:00 till 5:45 fired 380 shots for 289 birds, (wish i,d hit the 300 )

3 triples and i dont know how many left and rights

Got home put them in the freezer and when,t back out and shot a good roebuck,

What a great day !!!!!!!!!!!

No not a machine gun, a 12g browning gold sporting 3 shot auto (nothing shoots flatter than a browning) on the serious days and my 687eell 20g when its just for fun.

Mind you that browning got hot and wouldn,t feed properly a couple of times.

Yes it was hecktic, but you have to go for it when everythings in your favour,

wind straight in my back, birds coming in 1,s to 4,s and when you shot you could still see the next ones crossing a hedge below me and coming straight onto the decoys with no hesitation.

I have never shot a 300 bird day and if i realised i was that close i would have stayed to do it.

You're a *** Mike - if I didn't tell you when we met up at least y'know now! Heh-heh :yp:

In fairness I shot a couple of Olympic-standard crossers but missed some very basic shots.

Thinking about it the crossers were instinctive but I had too much time to think about the easier shots and missed.

However comments like "better check your cartridges, there doesn't seem to be any pellets in them" didn't ease matters.

That Peregrine was summat else though, eh!

Often the case mate... :yp: ;)

All too often with me at the moment...

Yet I went Clay shooting yesterday with a couple of friends and hit 41 out of 50 ! admitedly with a skeet and my 16g is full & improved so thats my excuse...:lol:
