Hodmedod.one
A guy I work with knows I have Rifles and Shotguns. Yesterday he told me he was planning on buying an Air Rifle to pot the odd Rabbit that he wanders around his Horse Paddock. He reckons he can get to within 30 yards of them. He asked me what can he get for around the £150 mark. I haven't bought an Air Rifle for over 30 years, so I haven't got a clue. I told him I would post on here to see if there was anything worth having in that price range. Over to you guys
highseas
custom b2 with 4-32 scope and a silencer in airgun world mate every week
HeadShotHoncho
NOT A B2 , NO PLEASE DON'T INTRODUCE HIM TO SHOOTING WITH A B2, PLEASE, no offence but they're terrible. You can't shoot rabbit with a b2 either cos they are terrible and not the right power. Get an s/h bsa or weihrauch cos I have a SMK and that 4 models above the b2 and its horrible
jims
I have a Weihrauch HW 77k advertised in the sales section its a bit more than your £150 but open to offers its a great rifle etc for the job. Cheers Jim
BSA Shaun
For me at that money there are 2 choices. Secondhand is a given. BSA Lightning Weirauch Quality rifles mate that will last a lifetime.
GamezBond
I would buy a Webley. Ive had Vulcan 0.22 and Eclipse 0.22, and both a few years old when bought. Both bought under £150. Then converted to Theoben Gas strut later on. The both still fire like new and are damn accurate even with open sights. Hard to go wrong with Webley, BSA and Weirauch generally. But having had such a good experience with Webley, I personally would buy it again if needed. Good luck

HeadShotHoncho
wouldn't a scorpion be slightly over the £150 mark, if they aren't then i want one
smsguitarist
Compared to most people here im new to hunting but i've had about 5 years experience shooting targets with .22 rifles. I bought an SMK Z20 (which i think is just a fancy name for a MOD20) for £105 from the local shop with Milbro TR pellets, a case and silencer. I got a 3-9 X 40 scope off ebay for £23 incl p&P so total, £128. So far i've only tested its groupings at 20 yards and with the TR's its got a grouping of 1/2 inch and i've had countless birds with it as well as rabbit and Pheasant. A few days ago i got a rabbit with a clean headshot at 27 yards so its gotta be half decent! Either that or for a similar price u can get the SMK XS-32 underlever which is again half decent. I find it bulky and for the larger of men so its something to be tested i guess. Hope this helps!
smsguitarist
oh also the pheasant was a head shot at 15 yards... i saw and chance and took it, got it in one and had a nice sunday roast! I know you guys don't like Pheasant shooting with air guns and i agree most of the time. If the shooters good he will know if he can make the shot! bunnybasher07
yeh but they are game birds and shot with shotguns, (^^^) yes the scorions are a good bit over the £300 mark but i am sure theres some good second hand ones kicking about GM
Vulcha
I thought you could shoot pheasants with an airgun provided you had a game liecence, permission and they were in season, and not on a sunday. Anyway, Lord Geordie has a BSA supersport carbine, scoped up an' all for £120. I'd get it mate, the supersport is a brilliant gun to get you into the sport
Davrian
Another vote for BSA in this corner, I'm still a huge fan of the old Airsporters though there are plenty of good under lever springers out there second hand. Ask around at your local shops to see what they have and ask on here for opinions of how good they are, don't nesesarily believe what the shop owner tells you or what the magazines say. Learn to get a half inch group at 25 yards with a springer and when you move up to a PCP at a latter date you'll be a demon shot!
HeadShotHoncho
Springers aren't that inaccurate, my HW80 is deadly! I've got a knock down target box and the little figures on there aren't big and i consistently hit them with ease at 35 yards Edited March 21, 2008 by HeadShotHoncho
lincs bunny basher
BSA all the way please please please do not buy that #### chinese b 2 thing i got a cricket bat u can have u would probly stand more ov a chance with the bat....... chinese do takeaways not rifles
HeadShotHoncho
Well said, i have heard good things said about a couple of their non-springers (xs78) but also a lot more bad things. Not worth taking a chance go s/h BSA, Weihrauch or maybe even cometa if you have to but not chinese
njc110381
Lord Geordie had a supersport for sale for around that price. He's a good honest bloke selling a good honest gun

Personally I would suggest a good secondhand springer and a decent 2nd hand scope maybe a 3-9 or 4-12x40.
