henry d
I had a vocal discussion a while ago at work about him and I do like Ray Winston as an actor, as opposed to "An Actor !" , but sometimes he either becomes a ham or in some cases a bad actor, so I wondered what do you think ?? He was strong in "Sexy Beast", though out classed by Ben Kingsley, and was great in "Births, Marriages and Deaths", a complete and utter ham in "Henry VIII".................does he get his roles because of his geezer connections or are they warranted ?? Wookie
Geezer. Seems like a nice chap, but doesn't really have much range. Rather like Guy Ritchie's directing/writing talents.

Baldrick
Henry, Winstone was quite watchable as Jack Nicholson's enforcer/2IC, Mr French, in 'The Departed'.

ziplex
I liked him in Sexy beast too, catch 'Nil by Mouth' if you haven't seen it to see him at his best?, not the most enlightening film ever made but very good if you're in the mood. the hitman
He's done some good film and tv work , almost always as a heavy or a tough cop. He is not as type cast as others of his generation , like Lewis Collins , who was so type cast as a hard man that after the professionals, he was turned down for the part of James Bond , and never seen again. Ray Winstone is a very watchable actor , who apart from Henry has not played many bad parts.

lurcherboy
Geezer. First saw him a series called Fox ( i think ) about a South London family many, many years ago. He played the part of a boxer whose opponent died in a bout. He was also in Borstal but the re-make for the big screen wasn't a patch on the original BBC film. One of the few people I would like to have a permanent lock-in with at any pub selling Guiness the other person being Kathy Burke. The Great Cornholio
LB, The 1979 version was called "Scum" but was the 1977 original titled "Borstal" or "Scum" ?

The bloke who played 'Grouty' in Porridge was the Dad. 'Minder' was on about the same time. Blimey, that was early 80's. Where it all gone!! Sorry mate, the BBC film was called Scum and I think it was in black and white although that might have been dictated by my parents financial status I would guess the beebs film was shown in 1975.
